Every college campus requires an outlet for future stand-up stars to shine, and for the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, that outlet is the Octopus College Hill bar and performing space

When Northern Iowa students need some food to fuel them through their studies or a drink to close out their stressful school week and finally begin their weekend they often head to College Hill; a popular Cedar Falls district that has become the go-to spot for students providing a mecca of bars and restaurants.

Last week, the Octopus College Hill gained a mural on their outdoor patio wall as a thanks from Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR) Beer for selling PBR on tap in the Cedar Valley.

Dave Deibler didn’t intend to establish a music venue when he opened Octopus four years ago.

That’s right. If you haven’t visited College Hill in a while, it’s worth checking out again to see what’s new! Located in the heart of the University of Northern Iowa campus, College Hill is a vibrant neighborhood with an eclectic blend of restaurants, nightclubs and shopping.

In less than a year, the Octopus on College Hill has become a known venue for various and unique musical performances.

Dave Deibler said he wants Octopus to be a neighborhood bar.
